Worker Bill of Rights
Definition
A comprehensive set of workplace protections and standards that apply to ALL workers in Louisville, not just government employees. Establishes minimum standards for wages, working conditions, and employee rights across the city.
Dave Biggers’ Plan:
- $15 minimum wage for all Louisville workers
- Paid sick leave requirements for employers
- Anti-wage theft enforcement
- Safe working conditions standards
- Protection against retaliation for reporting violations
- Right to organize without interference
Why this matters: Too many Louisville workers earn poverty wages despite working full-time jobs. The Worker Bill of Rights ensures that anyone who works in our city can afford to live here with dignity. This is about basic fairness – if you work hard, you should be able to support yourself and your family.
Note: This is separate from the Metro Employee Compensation Plan, which covers Louisville Metro government employees specifically.
