Police Accountability Board
Definition
A civilian oversight body with authority to review police misconduct complaints, investigate officers, and recommend discipline. Louisville currently lacks a board with real power—the Police Merit Board handles appeals but isn’t a true accountability mechanism. Creating an independent accountability board with subpoena power and investigative authority is a major police reform goal.
