The fire protection and emergency medical services agency serving Louisville Metro with firefighters operating from fire stations across the county. The department responds to medical emergencies, fires and other incidents. The fire chief is appointed by the mayor. The department’s budget is about $85.5 million (Louisville Metro adopted budget FY2026-27).
